Top 10 Prefered Stocks To Invest In Right Now

Things never get dull for the country's lone satellite-radio provider. Shares of Sirius XM Radio (NASDAQ: SIRI  ) moved slightly higher on the week, climbing 0.9% to hit $3.38. The media darling's gain wasn't as strong as the 2.2% Nasdaq pop, but there's no point in complaining about a positive run.

There was more going on beyond the share-price gyrations, though. Auto sales for June clocked in strong, and that's naturally good news for Sirius XM down the line. Majority stakeholder Liberty Media's (NASDAQ: LMCA  ) push for Time Warner Cable (NYSE: TWC  ) may happen with Sirius XM playing a significant role. Weeks after striking a deal to broaden Sirius XM's reach, Ford (NYSE: F  ) expanded the global reach of its SYNC AppLink platform with a deal in China.

Let's take a closer look.

Car sales are revving up
It was a good month for new-car sales, and that's huge, since the sale of new cars with factory-installed satellite receivers is the lifeblood of new subscriptions at Sirius XM. Ford's U.S. sales soared 13% in June, just above the 12% that upbeat analysts were targeting.

Michael Sohn/APSprint CEO Dan Hesse Sprint has been ranked last among U.S. cellphone service operators in a customer satisfaction survey by the influential Consumer Reports organization, scoring dismal marks for measures ranging from voice to 4G reliability. No-frills carrier Consumer Cellular received the highest overall score of 88 out of 100, followed by U.S. Cellular (USM) with 75. Sprint received the lowest score of 59, faring the worst in terms of value, voice, text and 4G services. The annual ratings were based on a September survey of 58,399 cellphone service subscribers by the Consumer Reports National Research Center, which publishes widely followed surveys and reviews of everything from cars to refrigerators. In last year's survey, Sprint (S) trailed only Verizon Wireless among the four major carriers. Verizon Wireless (VZ) (VOD) ranked highest again this year with a score of 71. T-Mobile US (TMUS) rated 65 and AT&T (T) 64, according to survey results released Thursday. The rankings are based on ratings for voice, text and 4G, taking into account the occurrence of problems and adjusted for frequency of use. Sprint has been revamping its network after years of customer losses. The company, which is 80 percent owned by SoftBank, warned in October that customer defections would remain high in coming quarters. The company reported a decline in third-quarter revenue as it lost more subscribers than expected following the shutdown of its older network. "Our latest cell service satisfaction survey revealed a somewhat precipitous decline by Sprint that shuffled the rankings of the major standard service providers," Glenn Derene, Electronics Content Development Team Leader for Consumer Reports, said in a statement.

Small cap mining stocks Brazil Gold Corp (OTCMKTS: BRZG) and Trulan Resources (OTCMKTS: TRLR) were either active on the charts last week (in the case of the former) or recently the subject of paid promotions (in the case of the latter). However, mining is not exactly an easy business for a small and usually undercapitalized small cap mining stock given the amount it can cost to get a mine up and running. On the other hand, they could always be sitting on the next mother lode just waiting to come out of the ground. With that in mind, here is a quick reality check about these two small cap mining stocks:

Top 10 Prefered Stocks To Invest In Right Now: Alcobra Ltd (ADHD)

Alcobra Ltd is an Israel-based Biopharmaceutical company. It focuses on the development and commercialization of a proprietary drug, MG01CI, to treat Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), a common and morbid neuropsychiatric condition in children and adults. MG01CI product has completed phase two studies. Advisors' Opinion:
  • [By Roberto Pedone]

A biopharmaceutical stock that's starting to trend within range of triggering a big breakout trade is Alcobra (ADHD), which is engaged in the development and commercialization of its proprietary drug, MG01CI, to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. This stock has been on fire so far in 2013, with shares up huge by 126%.

If you take a look at the chart for Alcobra, you'll notice that this stock has been trending sideways and consolidating over the last month and change, with shares moving between $14.78 on the downside and $18.75 on the upside. Shares of ADHD have now started to uptrend a bit over the last few weeks, with shares moving higher from its low of $15.05 to its recent high of $18.45 share. That move has started to push shares of ADHD within range of triggering a big breakout trade above the upper-end of its recent sideways trading chart pattern.

Traders should now look for long-biased trades in ADHD if it manages to break out above its 50-day moving average of $17.79 a share, and then once it takes out some more key overhead resistance levels at $18.45 to $18.75 a share with high volume. Look for a sustained move or close above those levels with volume that hits near or above its three-month average action of 74,869 shares. If that breakout triggers soon, then ADHD will set up to re-test or possibly take out its next major overhead resistance levels at $22 to $24 a share. Any high-volume move above those levels will then give ADHD a chance to re-test or possibly take out its all-time high at $26.96 a share.

Traders can look to buy ADHD off any weakness to anticipate that breakout and simply use a stop that sits right below some near-term support levels at $16.17 to $15.05 a share, or around $14.78 a share. One could also buy ADHD off strength once it starts to clear those breakout levels with volume and then simply use a stop that sits a comfortable percentage from your entry point.

For example, a phase 3 clinical trial on metadoxine extended release as a treatment for adult attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) will be finishing up at the end of this year. Positive data could give the stock a huge boost.

Advisors' Opinion:

Silicon Graphics International (SGI) develops, markets and sells various servers, enterprise-class storage hardware, differentiating software and solutions. This stock closed up 3.3% to $9.36 in Thursday's trading session.

    Thursday's Range: $9.07-$9.47

    52-Week Range: $8.16-$16.60

    Thursday's Volume: 179,000

    Three-Month Average Volume: 270,564

From a technical perspective, SGI bounced notably higher here right above some near-term support at $9 with lighter-than-average volume. This stock has been making higher lows over the last two months, and this stock is now starting to trend within range of triggering a near-term breakout trade. That trade will hit if SGI manages to take out some near-term overhead resistance levels at its 50-day moving average of $9.58 to some more near-term overhead resistance levels at $9.65 to $10.23 with high volume.

Traders should now look for long-biased trades in SGI as long as it's trending above some near-term support levels at $9 or at $8.86 and then once it sustains a move or close above those breakout levels with volume that hits near or above 270,564 shares. If that breakout hits soon, then SGI will set up to re-test or possibly take out its next major overhead resistance levels at its 200-day moving average of $10.83 to its gap-down-day high of $11 from May. Any high-volume move above $11 will then give SGI a chance to re-fill some of its previous gap-down-day zone that started near $12.50.
