With the stock down more than 13% since early March, it would be easy to assume Multimedia Games Holding Company (MGAM) was headed for a nasty earnings report at the end of April. The market was wrong, however. MGAM posted a 25% increase in revenue for the quarter, and a 28% improvement in earnings … and that was before the acquisition of PokerTek (PTEK). Bringing PokertTek into the fold will almost assure a fourth straight year of revenue and income growth.

Still, Enerplus faces several challenges. In the Bakken, EOG Resources (NYSE: EOG  ) still has a huge cost advantage over Enerplus in terms of well costs, spending a third less on its Bakken wells than Enerplus. In addition, although Enbridge (NYSE: ENB  ) and Plains All American (NYSE: PAA  ) have helped increase the availability of rail transport to help get energy products out of the region, the additional costs involved still keep Enerplus from realizing the full value of its oil and gas.

In this video, Fool.com contributor Aimee Duffy explains what is going on and why this pipeline matters so much to oil producers and investors alike.

If you're looking for companies that will benefit from blocking Keystone, you are better off looking into either Enbridge (NYSE: ENB  ) or Kinder Morgan Energy Partners (NYSE: KMP  ) . These companies have plans to build east to west pipelines from Alberta to the coast of British Columbia, and though they are facing stiff opposition, if Keystone is blocked then the Canadian government may have to force one of those projects through to keep Canada's natural-resource-driven economy from collapsing.

Shares of Glacier Media (GLMFF.PK)(GVC.TO) ("Glacier" or "the company") are cold product in this market of stocks, trading at decade lows after a summer sell-off.
